What You’ll Do as a General Miner

The General Miner plays a critical role in the mining process. You’ll be working underground, helping to move men, material, and ore, and performing construction duties that help the mine operate efficiently and safely.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

• Inspecting work areas to make sure they’re safe before and during operations
• Making sure all work follows legal and safety standards
• Managing blasting operations and preparing areas for safe, effective blasting
• Keeping the team updated on safety procedures and changes
• Constant communication with the Shift Supervisor or Shaft Foreman
• Writing up shift reports and tracking materials used or required
• Ensuring the team has all necessary instructions, checklists, and resources

This role is essential to smooth operations underground and requires someone reliable, safety-conscious, and team-oriented.

Minimum Requirements to Apply

To qualify for this position, you must have:

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate
• National Certificate NQF Level 3 in Rock Breaking or a Valid Blasting Certificate for underground hard rock mining
• 1 to 3 years’ experience as a Miner or Crew Captain
• Trackless mining experience will be an advantage
• Valid Medical Fitness Certificate (you must be physically fit to work underground)
