Nongoma Local Municipality Invites Applications for 95 EPWP General Worker Vacancies – Closing Date: 30 June 2025

What Is the EPWP?

The Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) is a government initiative designed to help fight poverty and unemployment by offering short-term job opportunities, especially for youth, women, and people with disabilities. The programme also provides basic skills training so that workers have a better chance of finding long-term work in the future.

Nongoma Municipality is proudly taking part in this programme by hiring General Workers to support various community projects like cleaning, maintenance, and beautification.

What Will You Be Doing as a General Worker?

As a General Worker in the EPWP programme, you’ll be doing important community work such as:

Cleaning streets, parks, and public buildings
Helping maintain cemeteries, community halls, and other municipal facilities
Supporting basic repairs and construction work
Taking part in greening projects and recycling efforts

Your work will help keep Nongoma clean, safe, and beautiful — while giving you hands-on job experience and a stepping stone to bigger opportunities.

Who Can Apply?

This opportunity is open to all unemployed residents of Nongoma Local Municipality who:

Are between 18 and 55 years old
Have at least Grade 10 (Matric/Grade 12 is a bonus)
Are physically fit and can do manual labour
Have no criminal record
Live in one of the local wards under Nongoma Municipality

Preference will be given to youth, women, and people with disabilities, in line with the goals of the EPWP.
