What’s the Job All About?
As a Sales Consultant at Virgin Active, your job is simple but powerful: get people excited about fitness and help them choose Virgin Active as their gym of choice.
You’ll be the friendly face that helps future members sign up, feel welcome, and stay motivated. You’ll also play a key role in helping the club reach its monthly sales targets. Think of yourself as part salesperson, part fitness ambassador, and part people-connector.
This isn’t just a 9-to-5 desk job – it’s a fast-moving, high-energy role where you’re out meeting people, talking about their goals, and finding the right solution for them.
What You’ll Be Doing Every Day
Here’s what your day could look like:
1. Plan and Prepare
- Plan your day and month ahead to hit your sales goals.
- Find new leads, book appointments, and set up presentations.
2. Meet People, Make Sales
- Chat with potential members, listen to what they want, and show them how Virgin Active can help.
- Learn how to handle objections and close the sale with help from your Sales Manager.
3. Track Your Progress
- Use Virgin Active’s tools and systems to track your daily activity and results.
- Regularly review your numbers to see where you can improve.
4. Be a Brand Ambassador
- Attend and organize fun events like health days, promotions, and fitness expos to spread the word about Virgin Active.
- Help make your club known in the community and bring in new members.
5. Stay Informed and Improve
- Learn everything about Virgin Active products and how they compare to others in the market.
- Take part in team meetings, share ideas, and learn from your teammates.
What You Need to Apply
To get started, you need:
- Matric (Grade 12) – This is essential.
- A qualification in Sales or Marketing is preferred but not required.
- At least 2 years of experience in sales, with a proven track record.
- Great people skills – You should be able to talk, listen, and connect with anyone.
- Confidence and professionalism
- Strong planning, telephone, and communication skills
- The ability to build long-lasting relationships with clients
- A good understanding of how sales budgets work
- A natural talent for reading the market and spotting new opportunities
