As a Cleaner, your daily tasks will focus on making sure the entire office space is clean, neat, and well cared for. You will work in different areas of the building and follow a clear plan to complete your tasks correctly.
You will clean offices, meeting rooms, pause areas, kitchens, canteens, bathrooms, passageways, and common areas. This includes dusting surfaces, wiping tables, chairs, and counters, and making sure that everything looks neat and presentable. You will also clean internal windows to remove dirt, fingerprints, and dust.
Floors must always be clean and safe for people to walk on. You will sweep, mop, and vacuum different types of floors. This helps to remove dust, dirt, and spills that can cause someone to slip or get sick. Hygiene is very important in a workplace, especially in kitchens and bathrooms, so you will use proper disinfectants to kill germs and keep the space healthy.
Another important duty is emptying waste bins on a regular basis. You will make sure rubbish is removed and disposed of in the correct way, following proper waste management rules. This keeps bad smells away and helps improve the overall cleanliness of the office.
You will also keep an eye on cleaning supplies such as soap, sanitiser, paper towels, toilet paper, mops, and detergents. If anything is running low, you must report it to your supervisor so that more can be ordered on time. This ensures that your work is never interrupted.
AFMS believes in helping employees improve their skills. You may be asked to attend training sessions that show you better and faster cleaning methods, how to use equipment safely, and how to handle different cleaning products correctly. You may also be included in special cleaning projects when needed.

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements listed below:
You must have at least a Grade 10 qualification or an equivalent level of education.
You should have some experience working as a cleaner, especially in a corporate or commercial environment. Knowing how to clean offices, restrooms, and shared spaces properly is a big advantage.
You must understand basic hygiene rules and how to safely use and dispose of cleaning materials. Knowing the layout of the building will help you work faster and more efficiently. It is also helpful to understand how different cleaning products work and when they should be used.
