About the Role

The Cleaner position is a fixed-term contract role within SAA’s Airchefs Operations Support. Your main responsibility will be to maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic working environment across assigned areas. By performing routine and deep cleaning tasks, you help the company operate efficiently, minimize contamination risks, and support overall food safety and compliance standards.

As part of your daily tasks, you will handle general cleaning, deep cleaning, and sanitation duties, ensuring that operational areas meet high-quality standards. This includes working with specialized cleaning equipment, following strict Halaal ethics and HACCP guidelines, and collaborating with other team members.

Key Responsibilities

Your main duties as a Cleaner will include:

• Follow pre-cleaning preparation requirements according to standard operating procedures.
• Wash pots, pans, and traps, and maintain clean working areas and cleaning equipment storage areas.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, mirrors, offices, toilets, and change rooms.
• Sweep, mop, scrub floors, and vacuum offices efficiently.
• Remove trash and clean garbage cans and waste barrels.
• Operate, maintain, and clean power-operated dishwashers safely.
• Pack garments for laundering.
• Conduct deep cleaning of equipment according to schedules.
• Handle heavy cleaning tasks and special projects when required.
• Notify management about repair needs or deficiencies.
• Follow strict Halaal Ethics, Codes, and Conducts; no unauthorized personnel allowed in Halaal areas.
• Adhere to Security, SHEQ, HACCP, Occupational Health and Safety, and Food Safety guidelines.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions or practices.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
• Assign and monitor work done by service providers according to service agreements.
• Be flexible to work in different departments and assist in multiple workstations.
• Work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Education: Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
• Experience: At least 1 year of experience in the catering or cleaning industry is an advantage.
• Training: Food Safety Training is required.
• Skills: Good communication skills, ability to follow instructions, and capacity to work independently.
