Amagema Development Consultants Launches IDT & NSF Learnership 2025

Amagema Development Consultants CC invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their IDT and NSF Learnership Programme 2025. This opportunity will lead to a National Certificate in Building and Civil Construction (NQF Level 3). The learnership runs for 12 months, and the closing date for applications is 21 October 2025.

This programme is offered in partnership with the Independent Development Trust (IDT) and the National Skills Fund (NSF), and it is aimed at empowering unemployed youth, women, and people living with disabilities in the Umgeni Local Municipality. If you are eager to gain real skills in construction and open doors to a brighter career, this may be the break you have been waiting for.

Why This Learnership Matters

In South Africa, opportunities for unemployed youth are not always easy to find. The construction industry, however, remains one of the strongest sectors for skills development and long-term employment. This learnership gives participants the chance to build a solid foundation in building and civil construction, an industry that plays a vital role in the growth of communities and infrastructure.

Through this programme, you will not only gain theoretical knowledge but also practical workplace skills that prepare you for real-world jobs. The experience gained can help you step into permanent employment, become more employable, or even prepare you for future entrepreneurial opportunities in construction.

What the Programme Offers

This learnership is structured around the National Certificate: Building and Civil Construction (NQF Level 3). By completing the programme, participants will gain:

  • A nationally recognised qualification that is highly valued in the construction sector.
  • Hands-on experience that blends classroom learning with real-life practical exposure.
  • Skills development in construction processes, teamwork, and workplace safety.
  • A pathway to employment within the construction industry or related sectors.

The full duration of the programme is 12 months, and learners must commit themselves fully throughout this period.

Who Should Apply

This opportunity is specifically targeted at unemployed youth and residents of the Umgeni Local Municipality. Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy. Equivalent qualifications or a Construction SETA-issued certificate at NQF Level 2 will also be considered.
  • Must be a resident of the Umgeni Local Municipality (proof of address is required).
  • Must be unemployed and available for the entire 12-month duration of the programme.
  • Preference will be given to youth (55%) and women (60%) to promote inclusivity.
  • People living with disabilities are encouraged to apply (proof of disability must be included).

This programme is about more than just training – it is about creating opportunities for those who are often left behind.

Application Process

Applying for this learnership is straightforward, but it is important to make sure your documents are in order. Interested candidates must submit the following:

  1. An updated CV.
  2. A clear colour copy of your Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent qualification.
  3. A clear colour copy of your South African ID document.
  4. Proof of disability (if applicable).

Applications can be submitted in two ways:

  • Email: Send your application to recruitment@amagema.co.za
  • Hand Delivery: Deliver your application to the Umgeni Local Municipality, where a submission box will be available at the security gate.

What Happens After You Apply

This process ensures that the most dedicated and capable candidates are chosen, giving everyone a fair opportunity to succeed.
