What You’ll Be Doing as a Warehouse Assistant

This job is not only about moving boxes. It’s about following systems, keeping the operation running smoothly, and ensuring the right material reaches the right place at the right time.

Main Responsibilities of the Role

Safety, Health & Environmental Compliance

Safety is taken very seriously in mining and logistics. You will be expected to:

  • follow health and safety procedures
  • follow environmental rules
  • behave professionally at all times
  • report unsafe situations immediately

You will also take part in:

  • SLAMs
  • HPHs
  • Risk assessments

Stock Receiving and Inventory Movement

A big part of your job will involve warehouse inventory control, including:

  • moving goods as required by schedules

You may also help with movement of:

  • RECO stock
  • scrap items
  • redundant stock to specified areas

FIFO Stock Rotation (Very Important)

You will use the FIFO system, meaning:
First In, First Out — older stock must be used first before new stock.
This helps prevent waste, damage, or expired materials staying too long in storage.

Housekeeping and 5S Principles

Warehouse work must be neat and well organised. You will be expected to use 5S principles, which normally means:

  • keeping areas clean
  • organising stock properly
  • marking and labelling items correctly
  • maintaining order in storage areas

Fixing GRV Queries

You will assist with resolving GRV (Goods Received Voucher) system queries. This is important because goods must be correctly recorded to prevent losses and incorrect stock counts.

Stock Counting and Verification

To keep stock accurate, you will help with:

  • cycle counting
  • bin verification
  • bin labelling
  • checking stock status
  • reporting variances

Reporting and Documentation

In this role you will also:

  • compile reports on variances
  • identify improvement opportunities
  • submit logs, forms, and reports for approval and recordkeeping

Delivering Materials to Plant Areas

Warehouse operations support plant operations. You will help ensure materials reserved for plant areas are delivered correctly and on time.
