Anglo American Invites Suitably Qualified Applicants to Apply for Their Warehouse Assistant Vacancies (Multiple 6-Month Fixed-Term Positions). The Closing Date for Applications Is 11 December 2025
If you are searching for a real chance to start your career in the mining and logistics world, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. Anglo American, through its De Beers Group and Kumba Iron Ore operations, is currently looking for motivated and hardworking individuals to join their team as Warehouse Assistants in Postmasburg, South Africa. This is a fixed-term position for six months, perfect for someone who wants to gain valuable experience, develop new skills, and get their foot in the door of a global mining company.
This role is ideal for entry-level candidates who are ready to learn, grow, and become part of an operation that supplies materials used in everyday life, such as mobile phones, buildings, and even medicines. If you are organised, reliable, and willing to work in an active environment, then this could be the perfect starting point for you.
Anglo American is one of the world’s leading mining companies, with operations across South Africa and other parts of the world. Through Kumba Iron Ore, they produce high-grade iron ore, which is a vital mineral used to make steel. Steel is used in building homes, schools, hospitals, roads, and factories. This means that by working at Anglo American, you are not just doing a job, but you are becoming part of something that impacts millions of lives every day.
The company is guided by strong values and a clear goal: to re-imagine mining so that it improves people’s lives. They value safety, teamwork, honesty, and hard work. As a Warehouse Assistant, you will play an important role in making sure materials are received, stored, and delivered correctly and safely.
As a Warehouse Assistant, your main job will be to make sure that all the goods and materials in the warehouse are handled in the right way. You will be responsible for different tasks that keep the operation running smoothly and efficiently.
You will help receive goods, place them in the correct storage areas (binning), pick items when they are needed, and move them to where they must be delivered. This also includes handling scrap and returned items. Following the correct schedule is very important, as it helps prevent delays in the operation.
Safety is a big priority at Anglo American. You will be expected to follow all health, safety, and environmental rules at all times. You will take part in safety meetings, risk assessments, and report any unsafe situations. You will also use the 5S principles to keep the warehouse clean, neat, and well organised.
Another important part of the job is stock control. You will help with cycle counting, checking that the number of items in the system matches what is physically in the warehouse. You will assist in labelling bins, organising space, and moving old or unused stock to the correct areas. If you notice any mistakes, damage, or missing items, you must report them to your supervisor immediately.
This job is not just about working alone. You will work closely with other team members, leaders, and sometimes people from other departments. Good communication and teamwork are key. You may also help with more complex tasks as you gain experience.
To be considered for this Warehouse Assistant position, you need to meet the following requirements:
You must have completed Grade 12. Having a certificate in Supply Chain Management or Logistics (NQF Level 4) will be a big advantage, but it is not always required.
You should have between 1 and 2 years of experience working in a warehouse or a similar environment. This could include experience in receiving, packing, stock control, or inventory management.
You must have basic computer skills, especially in programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of SAP will be an added benefit. You should also be someone who can solve problems in a logical way and manage your time and tasks properly.
You need to have a valid South African driver’s licence. You must be able to follow instructions, work well in a team, and be willing to learn new things.
This position is based in Postmasburg, in the Northern Cape, where Anglo American has major mining operations. The role falls under the Commercial (CML) NC department and is graded at Band A4. It is a fixed-term full-time position for six months, which makes it a great opportunity for people who want to gain experience and build their CV.
