💼 What You’ll Be Doing as a Cashier

As a cashier at Brights Hardware, your job is to make sure every customer walks away satisfied. You’ll be responsible for much more than just scanning products – you’ll be part of what makes the store a great place to shop.

Here’s what your daily duties will include:

• Welcoming every customer with a smile as they walk in
• Following correct procedures when ringing up purchases
• Handling cash, card, and EFT payments
• Double-checking amounts given by customers
• Accurately processing sales on the cash register
• Packing customer items neatly into bags
• Handing over cash drops to supervisors for safekeeping
• Doing daily cash-ups and reconciling tills
• Keeping an eye out for any suspicious behavior in-store
• Staying up to date with current promotions and specials
• Issuing and managing gift cards, reward cards, and point redemptions
• Keeping your workspace clean and organized
• Taking part in stock counts when needed
• Helping with any other tasks your manager may assign

🎓 What You Need to Apply

✅ Minimum Requirements:

• Matric certificate or any equivalent qualification
• At least 1 year of experience in a similar cashier role
• Must have completed the Brights Induction Training (service excellence)
• A clear credit record
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Able to stay alert and handle customer interactions responsibly
• Comfortable working under pressure
• Good maths skills and attention to detail
• A team player who can also work on their own
• Able to manage tasks and stay organized in a busy environment
• Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
