🛠️ What Does a General Assistant Do?

As a General Assistant, you’ll play an important role in making sure the store, yard, and warehouse run efficiently. Your tasks may include helping customers, loading vehicles, organizing stock, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

This is a hands-on job that requires energy, a helpful attitude, and a willingness to work in different areas of the store or yard, depending on what’s needed.

🧾 Your Main Duties Will Include:

Helping customers and delivery drivers by preparing and loading orders quickly and correctly
Loading and offloading vehicles for customers and suppliers
Making sure all yard stock items are neatly arranged and easy to find
Ensuring vehicles are clean, safe, and ready for use
Providing help in the workshop or joinery areas if needed
Carrying out Wash Bay cleaning duties when required
Keeping store shelves and displays tidy, organized, and well-stocked
Always promoting BUCO’s professional values and positive workplace culture

✅ Minimum Requirements:

To qualify for this position, you must have:

Grade 12 / Matric certificate
Product knowledge in hardware, construction, or retail will be a big advantage
A good attitude, physical stamina, and a team mindset

If you have experience working in retail, a warehouse, or customer service — that’s great, but not required. BUCO will provide guidance and support to help you succeed in your role.

📍Where Will You Work?

BUCO has branches all over South Africa. Depending on the needs of the business unit, you may be placed at a location near you. Applicants must be open to working in different departments and areas within the store.
