What Is a Store Buyer, and What Will You Do?

As a Store Buyer at Build It Pinetown, you’ll be responsible for making sure the store never runs out of the items customers need most. You’ll be the person who works with suppliers, places orders, and keeps the store fully stocked and ready.

Here’s what your day-to-day work will include:

  • Making sure that KVI items (key value items) are always available in-store
  • Keeping at least 80% of other stock items in stock
  • Creating and placing purchase orders on time
  • Following up on any outstanding orders
  • Ordering promotional products based on the marketing schedule
  • Taking advantage of supplier special offers to help the store save money and stay competitive

It’s a job for someone who’s good at planning, staying organized, and knows the importance of never having empty shelves.

What You Need to Apply

This job is ideal for someone who has hardware knowledge and wants to work behind the scenes to keep the store running smoothly.

Here are the minimum requirements to apply:

  • A Matric (Senior Certificate)
  • Solid knowledge of hardware and building materials
  • Good computer skills – IQ system experience is a big plus
  • Ability to manage people, especially direct reports
  • Must be honest, reliable, disciplined, and have sober habits
  • Must be a team player who can also work under pressure
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
