City of Polokwane: Apply Now for 12-Month Paid Learnerships 2025 – Limited Spots, No Experience Needed

The City of Polokwane, in partnership with Mahube Training & Development, invites all suitably qualified unemployed young South Africans to apply for their 12-Month Learnership Training Programmes (75 Available Positions). Are you between 18 and 45 years old, unemployed, and living within Polokwane Municipality? This is a golden opportunity for you to kick-start your career through fully paid learnerships offered by the City of Polokwane and Mahube Training & Development.

Whether you just finished high school or have been struggling to find work, these learnerships offer you practical, hands-on experience that can open many doors in the future. The best part? You earn while you learn.


Available Learnership Programmes

There are 4 different learnerships available for 2025. Each one runs for 12 full months and will give you skills that are in demand.

1. Learnership: Electrical Engineering (NQF Level 2)

  • Number of Positions: 15 learners
  • Minimum Requirement: Grade 10 with Mathematics as a subject

2. Learnership: Water and Wastewater Treatment (NQF Level 2)

  • Number of Positions: 15 learners
  • Minimum Requirement: Grade 12

3. Learnership: Water and Wastewater Reticulation (NQF Level 2)

  • Number of Positions: 15 learners
  • Minimum Requirement: Grade 12

4. Learnership: Landscape (NQF Level 3)

  • Number of Positions: 30 learners
  • Minimum Requirement: Grade 12

Who Can Apply?

Before you apply, make sure you meet these basic requirements:

  • You must be a South African citizen aged between 18 and 45 years old.
  • You must be currently unemployed and have not participated in any previous Learnership or ARPL Programme.
  • You must be a resident of Polokwane Municipality.
  • You must be willing to undergo security vetting.

How to Apply

When applying, you need to prepare a detailed CV along with the following documents:

  • A signed cover letter mentioning which learnership programme you are applying for (include reference number).
  • Certified copy of your ID.
  • Certified copies of all your qualifications.
  • Proof of residence (this must be officially stamped by an authorized traditional leader or municipality).

Important: All documents must be hand-delivered to:

9th Floor Office, Room 904 and 905, Civic Centre, corner Landros Mare and Bodenstein Streets, Polokwane.

Note: If you are applying for more than one learnership, submit a separate application for each one.


Closing Date

  • Deadline for applications: 24 June 2025
  • Time: 12:30 PM

If you do not hear back within three months after the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful.
