As a Shipping Assistant, your main mission will be to make sure all import orders are handled properly—from placing orders and confirming shipments to managing documentation and tracking everything through to delivery. You’ll help ensure orders are on time, in full, and at the lowest cost possible—while staying compliant with all legal and logistical requirements.

🧭 What You’ll Do: Shipping Assistant Job Responsibilities

Here’s what your daily work will include as part of the Clicks Imports Team:

• Create and process Purchase Orders (POs) on time.
• Email POs to international suppliers and ensure you get confirmation back quickly.
• Upload all import documents into the company’s Document Management System.
• Follow up with suppliers if shipments are delayed beyond the Latest Ship Date (LSD).
• Send a weekly unconfirmed PO report to the Category team.
• Coordinate between suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal departments to manage and update changes to delivery dates.
• Handle the setup of Letters of Credit (L/C) for applicable suppliers.
• Keep systems up to date with the latest shipment and order information.

You’ll need to work across multiple teams and use your multitasking and communication skills to keep everything moving forward.

✅ What You Need to Apply: Minimum Requirements

Education:

• 📘 Required: Grade 12 / Matric
• 🎓 Advantageous: Diploma in Logistics or Supply Chain Management

Experience:

• 📦 Required: 1-2 years in shipping, imports, exports, or freight forwarding
• 🛒 Advantageous: 1 year in logistics, supply chain, or retail operations

Skills You Must Have:

• 🔍 Problem-solving ability
• 💬 Excellent communication (verbal & written)
• 📊 Analytical and data management skills
• 💻 Computer literate (especially with MS Office/ERP systems)
• 🤹 Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities

Knowledge Areas:

• ⚓ Basic knowledge of Incoterms 2010
• 🏭 Understanding of manufacturing and shipping lead times
• 🛍️ Bonus: Knowledge of retail buying processes
