Easy And Creamy Panna Cotta with Homemade Berry Sauce – A Perfect Dessert Recipe

I’ve got a super tasty creamy Panna Cotta treat to share with you today. It’s one of my all-time favorites, and let me tell you, my neighbor can’t stop talking about it! It’s a smooth, creamy Panna Cotta with a delicious berry sauce that’s just perfect for any occasion. Whether you’re making it for a dinner party or just treating yourself, this dessert is sure to impress. It’s easy to make, and it’s actually quite fun, too. So, let’s dive right into the recipe!

The Creamy Panna Cotta

Alright, first thing’s first – we need to make that creamy panna cotta. It’s the star of the show, right? Here’s what you’ll need:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240g) of whole milk, divided in half
  • 2 cups (480g) of heavy cream
  • 6 ½ tablespoons (80g) of white granulated sugar
  • 4 teaspoons (12g) of unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of vanilla extract (or 1 vanilla bean pod)

Instructions:

Bloom the Gelatin: Start by adding ½ cup of milk (120g) into a bowl or jug. Sprinkle the gelatin powder over it and stir it in well. Set it aside and let it “bloom” for a few minutes. This helps the gelatin dissolve properly later.

Make the Cream Mixture: In a saucepan, combine the rest of the milk (120g), the heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla. Stir it all together and heat it gently over low heat. You don’t want it boiling, just getting hot until you see the first little bubbles forming. Once that happens, take it off the heat and let it cool for 5 minutes. (Trust me, if it’s too hot, the gelatin won’t work as well!)

Combine the Milk and Gelatin: Now, slowly pour the cream mixture into the bloomed gelatin, all while whisking it continuously. Keep stirring for a couple of minutes until the gelatin is fully dissolved. If you’re using a vanilla bean pod, it’s a good idea to strain the mixture to get rid of any bits.

Cool It Down: Place your bowl or jug in a larger container with ice-cold water. Stir it every 5–10 minutes until the mixture feels slightly cold to the touch. This helps it set without the vanilla sinking to the bottom.

Prepare the Ramekins: Lightly grease four small ramekins with vegetable oil (you don’t want the panna cotta to stick). Pour the mixture evenly into each ramekin. Tap them gently on the counter to get rid of any air bubbles. Cover with cling wrap and pop them in the fridge for at least 4 hours – or overnight if you can wait!

When I made this for my family, they couldn’t believe how simple it was. My little cousin was even helping me pour the mixture into the ramekins! It’s definitely a fun recipe to do with others.

The Berry Sauce

This berry sauce is the perfect match for the smooth panna cotta. It adds a lovely, tart flavor that balances out the sweetness. You’ll need:

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups (210g) of frozen mixed berries
  • ¼ cup (50g) of white granulated sugar
  • ¾ tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Berries: In a saucepan, combine the frozen berries, sugar, and lemon juice. Stir it all together and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Let it cook for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, until the berries are soft and the liquid thickens up a little bit.
  2. Cool and Serve: Transfer the berry sauce to a bowl and let it cool down to room temperature. You can even store it in the fridge until you’re ready to serve it.

I actually made this berry sauce for my granny, and she said it reminded her of the homemade berry jam she used to make. She was so proud of me, haha!

Plating and Serving

Once your panna cotta has set and you’re ready to serve, here’s a little trick: Run a knife around the edge of each ramekin to break the seal. Then dip the bottom of the ramekin in hot water for a few seconds (just make sure no water gets inside). This will help the panna cotta slide out easily. Flip it onto a plate, give it a gentle shake, and voilà – you’ve got yourself a beautiful panna cotta!

Top it off with a spoonful of that delicious berry sauce and serve it up. Trust me, you’ll be hearing compliments from everyone. My neighbors even asked for the recipe, so you know it’s a keeper!

A Few Tips:

  • Let the cream mixture cool down for about 5 minutes before you mix in the gelatin. It’ll make sure the gelatin works better.
  • If you don’t have ramekins, you can use little bowls or even glasses – anything that will hold the mixture.
  • If your panna cotta is a little wobbly after coming out of the ramekin, just dab it with a paper towel. It’s all good – still tastes amazing!

Why People Love This Recipe

What people are saying about this panna cotta? Well, everyone loves how creamy and smooth it is. My neighbor, who’s always skeptical about new recipes, said this one tasted like something you’d get at a fancy restaurant. He was pretty impressed! Plus, the berry sauce adds such a nice tangy contrast to the creamy texture. It’s like a match made in heaven.

The Bottom Line

I love making this panna cotta when I want something sweet but not too heavy. It’s light, refreshing, and always a hit when I have friends or family over. Plus, it’s super easy to make, and you don’t need any fancy kitchen gadgets. If you try it out, let me know what you think – I’d love to hear how it turns out for you!

Enjoy!
