Job Overview

The Department of Health is seeking 14 Cleaners to join the Cleaning Directorate at Kalafong Hospital. Successful candidates will work as part of a team responsible for ensuring all hospital areas remain clean and hygienic. This role requires commitment, teamwork, and attention to detail. Who Can Apply

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum qualification: Grade 10 or ABET Level 4 certificate (attach a certified copy not older than 6 months).
  • Experience: At least 12 months of cleaning experience in a hospital or clinical environment will be an advantage.
  • Candidates with EPWP experience in hospital cleaning are encouraged to apply.
  • EPWP participants must attach a recent service certificate and a stamped, signed motivation letter from their supervisor.
  • Must be able to work well in a team, under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles will be beneficial.
  • Must be willing to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays when required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

As a Cleaner at Kalafong Hospital, your daily tasks will include:

  • Cleaning both clinical and non-clinical hospital areas according to schedules.
  • Using cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and efficiently.
  • Performing terminal cleaning in infectious areas.
  • Scrubbing, stripping, and sealing floors.
  • Cleaning windows, walls, doors, and handles.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in bathrooms, kitchens, and staff areas.
  • Removing general waste and ensuring waste bins are emptied regularly.
  • Supporting your team leader with any other cleaning tasks as required.
  • Working individually or as part of a team to meet high hygiene standards.
  • Being flexible and ready to rotate between hospital departments when needed.
