What This Job is All About

As a Casual Cashier at Dis-Chem, your main role is to support customers at the checkout counter and make sure they enjoy a top-class shopping experience. You’ll also help keep the cash register area neat and safe while making sure every transaction is accurate.

Here’s what your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Handling customer purchases at the till
Receiving and processing all types of payments
Helping customers with returns and exchanges (when allowed)
Keeping track of promotional offers and specials
Reporting any customer feedback (good or bad) to the supervisor
Ensuring that stock going out of the store has been paid for
Following security and safety rules
Making sure all cash is stored safely and accurately
Scanning loyalty cards and assisting customers with reward systems
Being alert and reporting suspicious behaviour to management

This role is key to keeping customers happy and ensuring they come back again and again.

Minimum Requirements to Apply

Before applying, make sure you meet these basic requirements:

You must have Matric (Grade 12)
At least 6 months’ experience working at a till or in a similar cashier position
Good at using a computer (especially Microsoft Office)
Good with numbers and able to do quick calculations
Strong English skills, both speaking and writing
Able to work retail hours, including weekends and holidays
Willing to be part of a team and deliver top-level customer service
