What You’ll Be Doing as a Cashier

As a Casual Cashier at Dis-Chem, you’ll play a key role in helping customers during checkout. It’s more than just scanning items – you’ll be part of a team that ensures every customer leaves with a great experience.

Here’s what the job involves:

• Helping customers at the till point with their purchases
• Handling payments (cash, cards, coupons, vouchers, etc.)
• Making sure prices and items are entered correctly
• Scanning loyalty cards and processing loyalty points
• Keeping your cash drawer balanced and secure
• Reporting any unusual or suspicious activity
• Following all store policies, especially when it comes to handling money
• Providing basic help to customers about store products
• Making sure returned items are handled properly and signed off

You’ll also need to be aware of current store promotions and specials so that you can help customers get the best value when they shop.

Who Can Apply?

To be considered, you must meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate
• At least 6 months of cashier or till operation experience
• Good communication skills, especially in English
• Comfortable using a computer (basic MS Office knowledge)
• Basic numerical skills
• Presentable and well-groomed
• Able to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
• Live near Blue Route or have reliable transport
• Be a South African citizen with a clear criminal and credit record
