About the Role

As a Security Guard at Dis-Chem Pharmacies, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our staff, customers, and assets. Your main job will be to prevent and respond to any signs of criminal activity, ensuring that our premises are protected at all times.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, you’ll need:

Education: A Matric or Senior Certificate.
Accreditation: Grade C accreditation with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA).
Experience: At least 3 years of experience in the retail security industry, such as shopping malls or warehouses.

Preferred Experience

Although not mandatory, the following experience will give you an edge:

Security Role: At least 1 year of experience in a similar security position.

Key Responsibilities

As a Security Guard at Dis-Chem, your daily duties will include:

Surveillance: Conduct regular patrols to maintain visibility and deter criminal activities.
Access Control: Monitor and control access points, ensuring only authorized individuals enter the premises.
Incident Reporting: Investigate and report any signs of damage or unlawful entry, and respond swiftly to incidents.
Customer Interaction: Be courteous and professional while assisting visitors, employees, and customers.
Search Procedures: Perform staff and vehicle searches to prevent theft and ensure compliance with company policies.
Safety Monitoring: Keep an eye on alarm systems and CCTV, and respond to emergencies by alerting the appropriate authorities.
Crisis Management: Maintain order during emergencies and provide guidance during evacuations.
Daily Reporting: Take detailed notes of unusual occurrences and complete required logs and reports.

PSIRA Knowledge: A solid understanding of PSIRA regulations.

Employment Conditions

PSIRA Registration: You must have a valid Grade C PSIRA accreditation.

Transport: A driver’s license, reliable transport, and a Professional Driving Permit (PDP) if deployed as a driver.
