Right now, we’re on the lookout for a motivated and detail-oriented Buyers Assistant to support our National Procurement Manager and Category Buyers. What Does a Buyers Assistant Do?

Your role as a Buyers Assistant is crucial for the smooth functioning of the Procurement team. Here’s a look at your responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the National Procurement Team with strategic support.
  • Manage promotional schedules and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Compile and document trading terms for the business alongside the National Procurement Manager.
  • Track and manage business growth income reports.
  • Oversee Private Label Brand rollout processes nationally with the Marketing department, ensuring compliance and execution.
  • Support merchandising plans for various store formats and regions.
  • Maintain category data accuracy in line with company standards.

Operational Tasks You’ll Handle:

  • Weekly updates on Private Label timelines.
  • Generate reports for supplier management and coordinate quarterly strategic reviews with major suppliers.
  • Plan and review monthly promotional calendars.
  • Monitor supply performance using DIFOT (Delivery in Full On Time) reports.
  • Organize supplier data, including trading terms and private label agreements.
  • Manage buyer category flows and implement Planograms in retail stores.
  • Coordinate weekly Procurement team meetings and maintain accurate calendars.
  • Handle new product and supplier listing processes.
  • Perform general office administration as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Matric certificate (essential).
  • Diploma or degree in Business, Supply Chain, Economics, or a related field (advantageous).

Experience Required:

  • At least 2 years in an administrative support role within category planning, demand planning, or inventory management (retail or FMCG preferred).

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Keen attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal).
