Are you looking to kick-start your career in mining or logistics? Want a job where you don’t need a fancy degree but still get the chance to work with real equipment and learn hands-on? Enaex, one of South Africa’s leading explosives and mining companies, is offering an amazing chance for 5 lucky people to join their team as Assistant Material Controllers in Mpumalanga. This is a short-term contract (less than 6 months), but it could be your stepping stone to a long-term career.
What’s This Job All About?
The Assistant Material Controller role is perfect for someone who wants to work in a fast-paced, real-world environment. You’ll help manage and track explosive materials used in mining operations. Sounds intense, right? That’s because it is—but it’s also a job that teaches you some seriously valuable skills, especially if you want to stay in logistics, mining, or safety.
You’ll be working under experienced pros who will show you how to safely control stock, prepare items for transport, and keep things running smoothly inside the explosives magazine (that’s a secure storage area for explosive products, not a reading magazine!). This job is all about staying sharp, staying safe, and learning on the go.
What You’ll Be Doing Every Day
Here’s a breakdown of what your daily work might look like:
1. Accepting Explosives Into the Magazine
- You’ll sign production transfer sheets (these are like receipts).
- Record new items into the official register.
2. Getting Products Ready for Dispatch
- Add the right stickers with delivery info.
- Make sure everything is logged correctly before loading.
3. Sending Out Stock Safely
- Follow the “First In, First Out” rule—older stock goes first.
- Make sure nothing expires while it’s still in the magazine.
4. Daily Stock Checks
- Count everything in the magazine every day.
- Hand in stock reports to your supervisor.
- Keep the magazine register 100% accurate.
5. Helping With Admin Work
- File papers and organize records.
- Assist your team with daily duties and safety tasks.
- Make sure everything is clean and in order.
What You Need to Apply
You don’t need a fancy degree, but here’s what you must have:
- Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
- Valid Driver’s Licence
- Experience in mining or supply chain is a bonus.
- If you’ve ever handled explosives or worked in an explosives magazine, that’s a big advantage.
Skills That’ll Help You Succeed
If you have the following traits, this job could be perfect for you:
- Super detail-oriented (nothing gets past you).
- Follow rules to the letter (especially safety rules).
- Good with numbers and record-keeping.
- Can manage your time and work without someone watching you all the time.
- You work well in a team and don’t wait around—you take action.
