What Is the Assistant Officer Security Role About?

The Assistant Officer Security role focuses on supervising and coordinating security operations during a shift or within a section. Your main goal is to protect employees, company assets, information, and all Eskom interests.

You will guide security teams, manage contractors, ensure safety rules are followed, and monitor performance. This role requires discipline, leadership, and the ability to make smart decisions quickly.

You will also work closely with service providers and make sure security services meet company standards.

Key Responsibilities You Will Handle

Supervising Daily Security Operations

You will organise and supervise security resources for your shift or section. This includes making sure staff are correctly placed and duties are completed properly.

Managing Service Providers

You will supervise contracted security companies and ensure they follow agreed service standards. You may also assist with negotiating service level agreements and monitoring performance.

Monitoring Safety and Performance

You will perform security inspections, monitor operational performance, and ensure health and safety rules are followed at all times.

Ensuring Compliance

You will make sure all security activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and national security standards.


Leadership and Behaviour Expectations

Leadership Skills

This role requires strong leadership. You must be able to coach, mentor, and guide team members. You should be comfortable training staff and building strong working relationships.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

To qualify, applicants must have:

Education

  • National Diploma in Security Management, Policing, or Security Risk Management at NQF Level 6 (240 Credits)

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years security experience

Professional Registration

  • Must be registered with PSIRA Grade B
