What This Job Is All About

Supporting the Store and Leading the Team

As an Assistant Store Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the store’s operations while leading the staff. One of your main tasks will be training the sales team, ensuring they understand the brand, the expectations, and how to deliver excellent service. You will help oversee inventory, keep the store environment clean and visually attractive, and attend to customer needs.

You will also be expected to handle customer complaints, solve problems quickly, and ensure that both staff and clients have a positive experience inside the store. This position requires someone who is confident, practical, and able to take charge when needed.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Service and Sales Leadership

A big part of your role will involve guiding and motivating the sales team. You will:

  • Lead by example in meeting personal and company sales targets such as turnover, UPT, and ATV.
  • Support team members in delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Manage floor operations effectively, including assigning staff to areas based on the store’s zoning guide.

Being visible and involved on the sales floor is important in this role. Customers and staff will rely on your presence, support, and direction throughout daily operations.

Visual Merchandising Responsibilities

Visual merchandising is a major part of the GALXBOY in-store experience. You will:

  • Carry out merchandising according to brand guidelines.
  • Submit weekly visual merchandising photos as part of reporting requirements.
  • Conduct daily walks around the store to ensure products are displayed correctly, tagged, priced, steamed, and available for customers.

You will also be responsible for developing your own understanding of visual standards and training team members to meet these expectations consistently. A well-presented store is a key part of the GALXBOY shopping experience.

Inventory and Stock Management

Another important part of the job is maintaining stock accuracy and organization. Tasks include:

  • Processing and recording all deliveries on the same day, ensuring products are priced, steamed, tagged, and captured on the system.
  • Keeping the stockroom tidy and properly arranged for fast replenishment.
  • Conducting weekly and monthly stock counts and submitting accurate reports.
  • Implementing risk management practices to reduce stock loss and protect company assets.

Handling stock correctly helps ensure the store always has what customers want and that products move smoothly from delivery to display.

Supervising Day-to-Day Store Operations

Some of your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Managing employee time and attendance.
  • Following store opening and closing procedures.
  • Handling POS operations, cash ups, banking, and general housekeeping.
  • Processing refunds and exchanges based on company policy and notifying operations management when necessary.

This role requires someone who understands retail processes and can keep the store running smoothly from open to close.

Skills and Qualities Needed for the Role

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Matric certificate is compulsory
  • A Bachelor’s degree is an added advantage
  • One to two years of experience in a retail management position
  • Strong leadership and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of basic business and retail operations
