Key Responsibilities

The Rigger/Ropesman will be responsible for a variety of critical tasks, including:

• Ensuring the health and safety of yourself and team members by applying all relevant standards and procedures.
• Contributing to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all legislative, health, safety, environmental, and security policies.
• Scheduling and conducting inspections in line with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), applicable regulations, and company standards.
• Executing all duties as defined in legal appointments and with reference to regulation 16.74.1.
• Leading, supervising, and promoting effectiveness within a rigging crew.
• Planning, risk assessing, and safely executing the movement, transportation, and slinging of plant, equipment, machinery, and bulk loads.
• Planning, scheduling, and safely executing shaft and infrastructure inspections, hoist rope maintenance, and related attachments.
• Conducting both scheduled and ad hoc inspections, repairs, and controls of all lifting equipment and tackle.
• Maintaining accurate inventory and repair records as required by regulations and company standards.
• Following MHSA standards and Gold One Mine’s safety motto: “Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely.”

Who Should Apply

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Grade 10 or equivalent NQF4 qualification.
• N2 Trade Theory.
• Recognized Rigger/Ropesman trade certificate.
• Minimum 2 years’ underground experience as a Rigger/Ropesman, with proven skills in shaft slinging, rope capping, and splicing.
• Demonstrated integrity and strong interpersonal skills.
• South African driver’s license (Code 08–10) is essential.
• South African citizenship.
• Clear criminal record.
