Learnerships

Heineken Now Hiring for 14-Month Packaging Learnership – Only 2 Spots Available!

Heineken Beverages invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Food & Beverages Packaging Operations Learnership Vacancies (X2 Posts). The closing date for applications is 14 May 2025.

Are you a young South African who has passed Grade 12 and wants to start a real career in manufacturing and packaging? Then this is your moment. Heineken Beverages, one of the most respected names in the beverage industry, is offering a 14-month Learnership programme in Gqeberha for motivated individuals who want to grow their skills in a professional and fast-paced production environment.

This is more than just a short course — it’s a full-time paid learnership that teaches you how to work on real production machines in a beverage packaging plant. If you have Grade 12 with pure Mathematics and English, and you’re ready to work hard and learn every day, then this opportunity could be your start in the food and beverage manufacturing world.

What This Learnership Is About

This programme is designed to train and develop future packaging operators who will one day work on automated beverage production lines. The NQF Level 3 qualification will equip you with the knowledge and experience needed to understand how machines operate, how quality is managed in production, and how to follow safety and hygiene procedures.

You’ll be working in a high-speed production environment, learning every part of the packaging process — from filling and labelling to palletizing and sealing. And it’s not just theory. You’ll be on-site, gaining real experience and getting your hands dirty.

What You’ll Learn During the 14 Months

If you’re selected, here’s what you’ll get to do:

  • Learn how packaging machines work in a real production facility.
  • Understand and monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs) – part of the HACCP food safety system.
  • Practice quality control in a sensitive food environment.
  • Get hands-on experience with machine operations like:
    • Washing
    • Filling
    • Sealing
    • Labelling
    • Palletizing
    • Depalletizing
  • Do basic machine maintenance and problem-solving during breakdowns.
  • Develop strong communication and maths skills (you’ll need at least 70% to pass the tests).
  • Work under pressure, take on shift work, and be part of a real packaging team.

Do You Qualify? Here’s What You Need

To apply, you must meet all the following requirements:

  • Be unemployed at the time of application.
  • Have Grade 12 with Mathematics (not Maths Literacy) and English.
  • Be physically fit enough to handle the demands of factory work.
  • Willing to work shifts, weekends, and overtime when needed.
  • Have strong communication skills and a good attitude towards learning.
  • Be available full-time for the entire 14 months.
  • Be legally eligible to live and work in South Africa.

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience working in a production or packaging factory.
  • Knowledge of safe working procedures and factory rules.

Why Apply for This Heineken Learnership?

Here’s why this opportunity is a big deal:

  • You gain real skills that can help you get permanent work later.
  • You receive a stipend during the programme – so you earn while you learn.
  • You learn from one of the top companies in the beverage industry.
  • You work with professional machines and experts in the field.
  • If you perform well, this could be the beginning of a long career.

Heineken believes in diversity and inclusion, and they actively welcome people with disabilities to apply. The company also follows strict employment equity targets, so everyone gets a fair chance.

How to Apply

If you’re ready to commit, work hard, and build a strong foundation in manufacturing, then don’t waste time.

Submit your application through Heineken’s official website or careers portal before 14 May 2025. Make sure your documents are clear, updated, and show your passion for learning.

Final Thoughts

With only 2 learnership spots available, this opportunity is extremely limited. If you meet the requirements, act fast. Opportunities like this from companies like Heineken don’t come around every day.
