Job Overview

As a Grade A Control Room Operator at Thorburn Security Solutions, you’ll be an integral part of the security team, reporting directly to the Security Manager. Your main responsibility will be monitoring security operations to ensure a safe environment across client locations, including Head Offices and Campus Buildings. Your proactive approach will help minimize risks, protect assets, and maintain peace of mind for clients.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Your daily tasks as a Control Room Operator will include:

Access Control: Oversee the entry and exit points to maintain a secure environment.
Fire Detection and Prevention: Monitor building smoke and heat detection systems and gas suppression for fire safety.
Public Address (PA) & Evacuation Management: Communicate safety information effectively and facilitate evacuations if necessary.
Remrad System Management: Use the Local Fire Brigade Communication System to connect with emergency services.
Electric Fence Monitoring: Ensure perimeter security is active and functioning.
CCTV Monitoring and Operations: Operate and monitor closed-circuit television for real-time surveillance.
Intruder and Panic Alarms: Be vigilant with alarms and respond to incidents quickly to prevent security breaches.

Strong Communication Skills: Proficient in English (speaking, writing, and understanding) to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.

Conflict Resolution: Effectively handle conflicts and maintain order in all situations.
Discipline and Diligence: Demonstrate reliability, focus, and dedication to ensure security standards are met.

Qualifications Needed

To be considered for the Grade A Control Room Operator position, you must meet the following qualifications:

Education: Completed Grade 11 or Grade 12.
PSIRA Registered: Hold a Grade A or B PSIRA accreditation.
Certified Skills: Level 1 First Aid and Basic Fire Fighting certifications.
Computer Literacy: Comfortable with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Clean Records: No criminal or credit issues.
