What the Basic Ambulance Assistant Role Is All About

The Basic Ambulance Assistant (BAA) position is a frontline emergency medical role. You will work as part of an ambulance and emergency response team, assisting patients during medical emergencies and ensuring they receive safe and professional care while being transported to medical facilities.

Education

  • Matric (Grade 12) is compulsory

Emergency Care Qualifications

  • Appropriate Life Support qualification:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS), or
    • Emergency Care Assistant (ECA)

Work Experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience working at the appropriate emergency care level
  • Proven experience responding to medical emergencies

Licences and Registration

  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
  • Current and updated CPG compliance
