About the Role

As a General Worker/Char at Midas, you will be responsible for various tasks within the warehouse, including stock taking, binning, picking, packing, and moving stock. Your role is essential in ensuring that the warehouse runs smoothly and efficiently. You’ll also play a key role in keeping the warehouse clean and organized, contributing to a productive and safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Your daily tasks will include:

• Binning:
  • Properly binning incoming merchandise and replenishing inventory from bulk to pick locations.
  • Ensuring new products are allocated with bin location numbers in the correct warehouse area.
  • Updating bins and reporting any changes to your supervisor for accurate inventory management.
• Picking:
  • Picking customer and branch orders efficiently to meet order cut-off times.
  • Handling bulk orders and ensuring pack sizes are not broken during the picking process.
  • Following all procedures to ensure customer satisfaction and prevent inventory loss.
• Stock Management:
  • Assisting with stock take procedures to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Performing daily housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe warehouse environment.
  • Conducting double checks to maintain high levels of accuracy and customer satisfaction.
• Scanner Control:
  • Issuing and booking out scanners to operators daily using the electronic app.
  • Inspecting returned scanners for damage and booking them back into stock.
  • Reporting any scanner damage to the supervisor and completing the daily scanner issue spreadsheet.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• Education: Grade 12 or equivalent literacy and numeracy skills.
• Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a warehouse or logistics environment is desirable.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with spares, motor/engine parts, and warehouse systems and procedures is a plus.
