About the YES Youth Contact Centre Programme

This learnership-style programme runs for 12 months and offers participants the opportunity to work at Nedbank’s Contact Centre in Umhlanga Rocks, Durban North. Successful candidates will be placed in Personal and Private Banking divisions, where they’ll assist clients through calls, emails, and other communication platforms.

While this position is not a salaried job, participants will receive a monthly stipend to help with basic living expenses. It’s important to note that this stipend is meant to support you during your training and is not designed for relocation or long-distance travel. Applicants should live close enough to Umhlanga to manage daily commuting comfortably.

What You’ll Be Doing

During this exciting 12-month journey, you will learn the ins and outs of client service, teamwork, and communication. Depending on your assigned role, you may be placed in one of the following areas:

• Sales and Services: Delivering professional call services, helping clients with banking needs, and promoting Nedbank’s products.
• Collections: Assisting with overdue accounts and helping clients find solutions to their financial challenges.
• General Support: Engaging with clients through emails, calls, or SMS to ensure every interaction reflects Nedbank’s values.

You will be expected to:

• Represent Nedbank’s values of integrity, respect, accountability, and people-centered service.
• Demonstrate passion and enthusiasm when assisting clients.
• Work effectively as part of a team and contribute to the success of your division.

Minimum Requirements

Before applying, make sure you meet the following criteria:

• You must have a Grade 12 National Senior Certificate (Matric).
• You must be between 18 and 29 years old (born between November 1995 and November 2007).
• You must be unemployed and have not participated in any previous YES programme.
• You must be a South African citizen (African, Coloured, or Indian) as defined in the Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment Act (53 of 2003).
• You must have basic computer skills and be comfortable using digital tools.
• You should live within a 30 to 35 km radius of Umhlanga Rocks, to ensure affordability and punctuality.

Umhlanga, La Lucia, Verulam, Tongaat, Phoenix, KwaMashu, Inanda, Westville, Pinetown, and Durban North.

Working Hours and Environment

You will be required to work an 8-hour shift per day, which may include weekends and public holidays depending on your role. The position is fully on-site at the Nedbank Park Square Campus in Umhlanga.
