The People Delivery Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of HR functions by handling essential administrative tasks, keeping employee records, and supporting various HR processes like onboarding, benefits, payroll, and more.

This position goes beyond basic administration, offering hands-on involvement in employee interfacing activities that contribute to a supportive, inclusive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

As a People Delivery Assistant, you’ll be entrusted with a variety of tasks to support Shoprite’s HR services. Here’s an overview of your duties:

Employee-Focused Service:

  • Provide administrative support based on People policies and procedures.
  • Assist the People Delivery Partner and Divisional People Partner in meeting HR needs, including recruitment, payroll, benefits, wellness, onboarding, exit management, and more.
  • Manage document processing and ensure data is accurately loaded and recorded in the relevant systems for audits and compliance.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Efficiently manage queries within the People function, addressing concerns or escalating issues to ensure work flows seamlessly.
  • Coordinate with third parties as required, communicating on behalf of team members or other stakeholders to resolve any HR-related issues.

Record-Keeping and Compliance:

  • Maintain a well-organized filing system, keeping HR documentation updated and ensuring compliance with company and legal standards.
  • Stay aligned with labour relations laws and other relevant regulations, including Health and Safety (H&S) and the POPI Act for privacy.

Project and Event Support:

Participate in team projects, orientation activities for new hires, and other ad hoc tasks as needed. You’ll also help compile lists of stakeholders, arrange for new team members, and provide crucial assistance in people-centric projects.

Data and Reporting:

  • Capture accurate HR data and generate reports, supporting broader People team requirements.
  • Consolidate costs or other relevant data as directed, using official data sources to inform HR administrative outputs.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Suggest ideas to improve HR services and administrative processes.
  • Support integration with other business areas to ensure a cohesive approach to employee services and data management.

What You Need to Qualify

If you’re ready to join Shoprite’s HR team, here are the essential qualifications and skills you’ll need:

  • Qualifications: A Diploma or Degree in Human Resources or a related field is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years in HR administration or as an HR Assistant, with hands-on experience across various HR functions.
    • Experience within the FMCG or retail sector is a bonus.
    • Familiarity with management payroll and HR systems like SAP or WFM (Workforce Management System) is also desirable.
