PEP 2025 Supply Chain Internship

PEP invites suitably qualified and motivated applicants to apply for the Supply Chain Internship Programme (Imports Graduate position). Applications close on 12 August 2025.

If you’ve been dreaming of starting a career in supply chain, logistics, or operations management, this is your chance to join one of South Africa’s most well-known retail brands. PEP is opening its doors to graduates who want to learn, grow, and gain real-world experience in managing imports and supply chain processes.

With South Africa’s economy depending heavily on efficient supply chains, this internship offers a perfect entry point into a career that is always in demand. And when you do it with PEP, you get to learn from industry professionals in a supportive environment where your skills can shine.

What is the PEP Supply Chain Internship?

The internship is designed to give you hands-on training in managing the entire process of importing goods — from coordinating shipments to ensuring legal compliance. As an Imports Graduate, you won’t just be observing from the sidelines — you’ll be actively involved in tasks that keep the company’s supply chain running smoothly.

Your role will include working with suppliers, shipping agents, and different departments within PEP, making sure that products get where they need to be, on time and in perfect condition.

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for this programme, you’ll need to have one of the following:

  • Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, or BCom in Supply Chain and Operations Management
  • An Imports/Exports qualification will be an added advantage
  • Any experience in imports/exports will also be beneficial

In addition, you should have:

  • Strong administration skills — accuracy is key in this role
  • Computer literacy, especially in MS Excel, Outlook, and Google Suite
  • An eye for detail and a commitment to getting tasks done correctly the first time

What You’ll Do in This Internship

Here’s what a typical week could look like for you:

  • Creating import shipments and preparing the Documentary Letter of Credits
  • Communicating with suppliers and preparing regular reports
  • Liaising with clearing and forwarding agents to resolve shipping exceptions and updating relevant departments (merchandise, planning, finance)
  • Ensuring import documents are accurate and customs compliant before submitting to clearing agents and banks
  • Following up on missing documents from suppliers to avoid late clearance
  • Tracking and prioritising shipments to ensure timely delivery
  • Controlling the imports schedule and managing container deliveries to the distribution centre
  • Assisting with weekly and month-end reports
  • Helping with special projects and general office admin, including filing, updating reports, and handling emails

Skills You’ll Gain

By the end of this internship, you could walk away with skills that will open doors to a career in logistics and supply chain, including:

  • Planning and organisation – managing multiple tasks without missing deadlines
  • Detail orientation – spotting and fixing mistakes before they become costly problems
  • Communication – working with different teams and suppliers professionally
  • Stress tolerance – staying calm and efficient, even when things get busy
  • Customer service orientation – keeping stakeholders informed and satisfied

Why Choose PEP?

PEP is not just a store — it’s one of South Africa’s most trusted retail brands with a wide-reaching supply chain. Joining their internship programme means learning in a company that values growth, efficiency, and teamwork. It’s the kind of experience that stands out on your CV and can lead to career opportunities in logistics, supply chain management, or operations.

  1. Prepare your updated CV.
  2. Include a short motivation letter explaining why you’re interested in this role.
  3. Submit your application through the PEP Careers Portal before 12 August 2025.

If you don’t hear from PEP within four weeks of the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful — but don’t give up, because opportunities like this come around often.
