Daily Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Service Comes First

As soon as customers walk into the store, you will greet them with a friendly attitude and offer help. You will listen to what they need, guide them to the right products, and make sure they leave the store feeling satisfied.

You will also answer questions, handle complaints in a calm way, and inform customers about current promotions and special deals.

Sales and Product Knowledge

You will be expected to know the products sold in the store. This includes understanding prices, features, and benefits. By knowing your products well, you can confidently suggest additional items and help customers make good choices.

Reaching sales targets is part of the job, and you will be encouraged to stay motivated and focused on store goals.

Cash Handling and Store Operations

Operating the cash register is a big responsibility. You must process payments accurately, follow company rules, and keep the till balanced. Keeping the checkout area clean and organised is also important.

You will help receive stock deliveries, unpack items, and make sure shelves are well stocked. Part of your role will also include helping with stock orders and setting up displays so the store looks attractive and easy to shop in.

Keeping the Store Safe and Organised

Reducing stock loss is a priority at PEP. You will follow safety and security procedures, stay alert, and help keep the store environment safe for both customers and staff.

The store should always be neat, clean, and well organised. A tidy store makes shopping easier and creates a better experience for everyone.


Minimum Requirements to Apply

To be considered for this role, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • A Matric certificate
  • Ability to speak and understand English
  • Previous experience in retail or customer service is an advantage, such as cashier, general assistant, store assistant, or sales assistant
  • You must live within 15km of the store
  • A clear criminal record

Preferred Qualities That Will Strengthen Your Application

While not required, the following will work in your favour:

  • Being a South African citizen
  • Basic computer skills
  • A strong interest in retail and customer service
  • Being between the ages of 20 and 35
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude
