What You’ll Be Doing

As a cleaner at AFMS, your main role is to help create a clean, professional, and healthy environment. You’ll be responsible for general cleaning in a variety of areas, depending on the work site. Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll be expected to clean:

Daily Cleaning Areas:

• Office spaces and meeting rooms
• Kitchens, canteens, and dining areas
• Customer service areas and reception zones
• Toilets, bathrooms, and cloakrooms
• Passageways, staircases, and emergency exits
• Outside areas around buildings
• Linen rooms and training centres

General Tasks:

• Vacuum, mop, scrub, and polish floors
• Clean furniture, chairs, and office equipment
• Sanitize door handles, basins, and toilets (multiple times per day)
• Empty and replace waste bin liners daily
• Maintain a neat and organized cleaning supply area

You’ll also assist with waste management and basic kitchen duties, like delivering food and beverages and locking up after hours.

Weekly & Monthly Cleaning Tasks

On a weekly basis, you’ll clean high-traffic spots like:

• Kitchen cupboards and canisters
• Windows and glass doors (up to reach height)
• Wall tiles and door handles

Monthly duties include:

• Deep-cleaning couches and leather-upholstered chairs
• Scrubbing non-carpeted floors
• Disinfecting skirtings and detailed areas

Spot cleaning (as needed) is also part of the job – especially in areas like carpets, walls, and reception desks.

What You Need to Qualify

• Minimum education: Grade 10
• Experience: Some cleaning experience in a corporate or commercial environment is preferred
• Hygiene knowledge: Basic understanding of hygiene practices
• Product knowledge: Able to safely use cleaning products and tools
• Layout knowledge: Knowing your way around large buildings is a plus
