Step Into a Career With Purpose

Rand Water, one of the largest water utilities in Africa, is offering a golden opportunity for unemployed young people to grow their skills while contributing to a vital national service — providing clean water to millions. Through this Supply Chain Practitioner Learnership Programme, participants will learn the essential skills needed to become a Procurement Officer, a role that plays a key part in ensuring goods and services are effectively sourced, contracts are managed, and operations run smoothly.

If you’ve always been curious about how big organizations manage their suppliers, contracts, and purchasing systems — this programme will give you a behind-the-scenes experience of exactly that.

What the Learnership Offers

The Supply Chain Practitioner Learnership is designed to combine theoretical learning with hands-on work experience, allowing you to apply what you learn directly in a real-world environment.

You’ll get the chance to:

  • Learn how to develop and maintain procurement schedules.
  • Gain experience managing supplier relationships and contracts.
  • Monitor and evaluate procurement and supply performance.
  • Participate in classroom sessions, complete assignments, and work on projects.
  • Keep a practical logbook to track your progress and growth.

By the end of this 18-month journey, learners will have the knowledge and experience needed to operate as professional Procurement Officers — ready to take on opportunities in both the public and private sectors.

Minimum Requirements

Before applying, make sure you meet the following criteria:

Your application must include the following:

  • Certified copy of your ID document.
  • Proof of residence.

  • SAQA/NLRD verification report.
