SAFCOL is searching for passionate young South Africans to join their Learnership Programme for 2026! If you’re between 18 and 35 and want to build a career in forestry, you could be part of something big. There are several training spots available, and applications close on 14 November 2025.

Wondering What Your Future Could Look Like?

What if you could learn high-demand skills, earn qualifications, and get paid—all while working outdoors in some of the most stunning parts of Mpumalanga? The South African Forestry Company SOC Limited (SAFCOL) is offering their Learnership Programme for 2026, and it could be your ticket to a brighter future.

Why SAFCOL’s Learnership Programme Stands Out

SAFCOL is a respected state-owned company that takes care of South Africa’s commercial forests. This means everything from planting trees to cutting timber and even processing wood in mills. But SAFCOL’s mission is more than just business; it’s about giving young people opportunities to grow. When you join this programme, you’re not just gaining skills—you’re helping to build better futures for yourself and your community.

Check Out the Programmes on Offer

You can choose from three different learnership streams:

  • Mechanised Harvesting (NQF Level 3)
  • Forestry Silviculture (NQF Level 3)
  • General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) in Forestry (NQF Level 1)

Every option includes classroom learning plus real-world experience with SAFCOL’s teams. It’s the kind of training that makes you job-ready and gives you a stepping stone if you want to start your own business one day.

Here’s What You’ll Get

  • Monthly stipend (yes, you get paid while you learn)
  • Accredited forestry training
  • Practical skills working with real experts
  • Official certificate (NQF Level 1–3, depending on your stream)
  • A huge boost for your future job hunt

What You’ll Actually Do

Expect to:

  • Spend time both learning through books and by doing the job on forestry plantations
  • Pick up technical know-how like operating tools and machines
  • Learn how to work safely and protect the environment
  • Get to know smart forestry practices and teamwork

Who Can Apply?

This opportunity is open to South African citizens aged 18–35. You must be unemployed, have finished Grade 12 (Matric), and genuinely want to work outside. SAFCOL gives preference to young people from previously disadvantaged backgrounds and those linked to SAFCOL’s community agreements, but anyone who fits the requirements should apply.

SAFCOL strongly supports equal opportunities for everyone—including girls and people with disabilities.

What Do You Need to Apply?

Just follow these steps:

  1. Fill out the official SAFCOL Learnership Application Form.
  2. Attach certified copies of your:
    • CV
    • Matric certificate or statement of results
    • ID document
  3. Email your application to the address matching your chosen learnership:

All learners will be based at SAFCOL’s Platorand Training Centre in Sabie, Mpumalanga, and you’ll receive your monthly stipend for as long as the programme runs.

Why Does This Matter?

Forestry isn’t just about growing trees—it’s about looking after South Africa’s natural resources, creating jobs, and making communities stronger. Through the SAFCOL Learnership Programme, you’re part of that. You’ll gain skills, earn a living, and even help protect the planet.

If you’re ready for hard work, new challenges, and steady growth, this could be your moment to shine. SAFCOL gives you the path, but it’s up to you to take the first step.

Ready to Apply?

Don’t wait too long! The closing date for applications is 14 November 2025. For any questions, contact Mr. Tshilidzi Mavhungu on 078 803 3643.
