SANParks Is Hiring Room Attendants

South African National Parks (SANParks) invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for Room Attendant Vacancies (Multiple Posts) at Mapungubwe National Park & World Heritage Site. This position is based at Mapungubwe National Park & World Heritage Site, a world-renowned destination managed by SANParks. About the Room Attendant Role

The Room Attendant position plays a critical role in ensuring that guest facilities meet SANParks’ high hospitality and tourism standards. The successful candidate will report directly to the Duty Manager and will be responsible for cleaning, preparing, and maintaining guest units and public areas.

This role suits someone who is disciplined, detail-oriented, physically fit, and committed to excellent service delivery.


Key Responsibilities of a SANParks Room Attendant

Cleaning and Housekeeping Duties

Your main responsibility will be to ensure that all guest and public areas are clean, safe, and welcoming. This includes:

  • Cleaning chalets according to prescribed SANParks standards
  • Maintaining ablution blocks and camping sites
  • Cleaning offices and surrounding areas
  • Ensuring guest units are neat, hygienic, and ready for occupation

Cleanliness is a top priority in tourism environments, and attention to detail is essential.


Public Areas and Guest Facilities

You will also be responsible for cleaning and monitoring shared spaces, including:

  • Reception areas
  • Public restrooms
  • Walkways and communal spaces

Any abnormalities or concerns must be reported to the supervisor immediately to ensure guest comfort and safety.


Stock Control and Inventory Support

As part of your duties, you will:

  • Control and manage inventory items
  • Ensure sufficient supply of stock in guest units
  • Assist with collecting supplies when required

Good stock management ensures smooth daily operations in the rest camp.


Reporting and Maintenance Support

Room Attendants are expected to report any issues they notice during their duties, including:

  • Equipment faults
  • Maintenance issues
  • Abnormal conditions in guest areas

Prompt reporting helps prevent service disruptions and ensures safety.


General Camp Support Duties

You may also be required to:

  • Assist with general work in the rest camp
  • Support duties in the linen room
  • Perform ad hoc tasks as instructed by the Supervisor
  • Relieve other Room Attendants when they are off duty

Flexibility and teamwork are important aspects of this role.


Minimum Requirements for the Position

Education and Experience

To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • At least 3 years practical work experience in hospitality or tourist accommodation

Experience in lodges, hotels, resorts, or similar environments will be highly beneficial.


Additional Advantages

  • A valid driver’s licence
  • Room Attendant or housekeeping training
  • Knowledge of First Aid
  • Understanding of hygiene practices and safe working procedures

The remuneration package includes:

  • A monthly salary on Paterson Grade A3
