Servest Security Safety Officer Vacancies

Servest Security invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Safety Officer vacancies. The closing date for applications is 16 December 2025. If you have a strong passion for safety within the security and mining environment, this opportunity gives you a chance to join a respected team and make an impact every single day.

Servest Security and Technology, a key business unit within Servest, is looking for an experienced and committed Safety Officer to be based in Secunda. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a structured environment, understands safety systems, and wants to ensure that workspaces remain safe, compliant, and well-managed. If safety is something you take seriously and you want a role where your skills are valued, then this job could be your next step.

Why This Position Is Worth Paying Attention To

Most people overlook safety positions because they think the work is routine, but this role is much more involved. As a Safety Officer at Servest, you become the core link between security operations, safety procedures, and client expectations. You will play a key part in keeping workers safe, meeting legal requirements, and making sure the company remains compliant with mining standards. For someone with experience in the mining sector, this is a chance to grow, use your skills daily, and gain more industry exposure.

The job also places you at the center of real safety decisions, audits, investigations, and compliance activities. If you like being hands-on and solving problems while maintaining order, you will enjoy this role.

What You Need To Qualify

Servest is looking for someone who already understands the expectations of a safety role within a mining and security setup. To qualify, you must have the following:

  • Matric/Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification.
  • A recognised Health and Safety qualification.
  • Samtrac or NOSA certificates, which are essential for the mining environment.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience working as a Safety Officer in the mining industry.
  • Strong knowledge of the MHSA, OHS Act, auditing processes, and incident investigation procedures.
  • A valid PSIRA Grade A certificate, as this position is within the security sector.
  • No criminal record or active cases.
  • Medical fitness that allows you to work safely in all required environments.
  • A valid driver’s license with your own reliable vehicle.
  • You must live in Secunda or nearby areas, as this role requires regular site visits.

These requirements are important because the job involves working closely with clients, travelling between sites, and managing sensitive safety information.

Key Responsibilities You Will Handle

The Safety Officer will oversee all safety activities across different sites, making sure everything is up to standard and fully compliant. These are the day-to-day responsibilities you will manage:

  • Carry out weekly checks and updates on all site safety files.
  • Audit the safety files of Servest subcontractors every month.
  • Attend safety meetings and ensure all the information discussed is recorded correctly.
  • Upload meeting minutes, investigations, and related documentation to the SHEQ X system.
  • Visit sites frequently and conduct PTOs with Servest staff to ensure they follow client safety rules.
  • Take part in monthly SHE meetings with Servest SHE representatives and keep all minutes filed for audit reviews.
  • Respond quickly to safety incidents, investigate them, and prepare preliminary reports before the final outcome is completed.
  • Work closely with the Contract Manager and the Accounts Operations Executive – Mining to make sure all safety duties align with client expectations.

This role needs someone who is organised, reliable, and confident in handling documentation, audits, and investigations.

What Makes This Role Valuable

Working with Servest gives you the chance to grow within a well-known organisation that handles major security and safety contracts. You will gain experience that many employers in the mining and security field consider highly valuable. You also get to work with a team that takes safety seriously, giving you the opportunity to build your career even further.

If you meet the requirements and want to take the next big step, Servest encourages you to apply. A role like this does not come around often, especially in the Secunda area, so this is your chance to be part of a strong and respected organisation that values professionalism and safety excellence.
