What This Role Is About

The Early Careers Development Administrator plays an important role in the People (Human Resources) department. You won’t just be doing basic admin work — your efforts will directly help young South Africans find opportunities and grow within the company. This position is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, good with systems, and enjoys working in a fast-paced retail environment.

What You’ll Be Doing Daily

Here’s a closer look at your key responsibilities:

  • Provide Administrative Support: Handle all admin work for the People department according to company policies. This includes keeping records, updating files, and following up on staff queries.
  • Support Graduate and Bursary Programs: Help organize and manage Shoprite’s youth initiatives by assisting consultants with applications, events, and communication.
  • Event Coordination: Help plan and host career fairs, open days, and other company events.
  • Performance Monitoring: Collect feedback from learners and create simple reports to share insights with management.
  • Office Management: Keep track of stationery, manage orders, and ensure that all filing systems are up to date.
  • Data Entry: Capture and process important information on Shoprite’s systems while maintaining accuracy and data privacy.
  • Communication: Liaise with internal staff and sometimes external partners to ensure smooth communication between teams.
  • Team Support: Assist in projects, prepare documents, and participate in activities that help create a positive work culture.

This role also gives you the chance to learn how different parts of the business work together and how HR supports the entire organization.

  • Confident in communication and problem-solving.
  • Excited about working in a busy retail environment.

This job is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, enjoys structure, and wants to play an important role in supporting young professionals starting their careers.
