About the Golden Gate General Worker Jobs

The two General Worker positions are based in the Gladstone Section of Golden Gate Highlands National Park. These roles are mainly focused on stable work, outdoor maintenance, caring for horses, and supporting conservation projects in the park.

This is physical, hands-on work that takes place outdoors, so it is perfect for someone who enjoys being active and working with their hands instead of sitting in an office all day.

The good news is that official accommodation will be provided inside the park, which means you don’t have to worry about finding a place to stay far away. However, you must be ready to work weekends and public holidays, because nature and tourists do not take breaks.

Minimum Requirements You Must Have

• A Grade 12 certificate (Matric) or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification

Key Responsibilities of a General Worker

As a General Worker at Golden Gate Highlands National Park, you will have an important role in keeping the park running smoothly. Your daily tasks will include:

Working With Horses

• Helping to identify and report horse illnesses or injuries
• Assisting with horse vaccinations, grooming, and feeding
• Supporting the Stable Supervisor and Horse Handler in daily care
• Cleaning and maintaining saddles, bridles, and other riding equipment

Maintaining the Stables and Surroundings

• Cutting grass and cleaning around the stables and offices
• Keeping paddocks and gardens tidy
• Making sure the stable environment is clean and safe

Supporting Conservation Work

• Helping with wildfire control and firebreak preparation
• Assisting in invasive plant removal
• Supporting soil erosion control projects
• Helping to repair and maintain fences

General Park Maintenance

• Helping with the upkeep of buildings, signs, and hiking trails
• Making sure the area stays safe for visitors
• Following strict safety rules at all times
