Main Purpose of the Job:

As a General Store Assistant, your main responsibility will be to ensure that every customer enjoys the best service while also helping the store meet its sales targets. You will assist with cash control, stock management, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

Here’s what your day-to-day tasks will include:

Cash Control: You’ll be responsible for handling cash and ensuring all cash desk operations are run smoothly. This includes recording manual transactions accurately and ensuring no cash variances.

Stock Control: Managing stock is a key part of this role. You’ll follow up on customer orders, conduct weekly stock counts, and ensure the storeroom is always in top shape.

Customer Service: You’ll be the face of Spitz in-store, providing excellent customer service and building strong relationships with both internal and external customers. You’ll also gain product knowledge to help guide customers in making purchases.

Qualifications and Experience: To apply for this role, you will need:

Matric/Grade 12 completed.
At least 1 year of retail experience.

Skills and Competencies Needed:

Cash and Stock Management: Experience in handling cash and managing stock processes.
Sales and Product Knowledge: You should know how to sell and have a good understanding of the products you’ll be working with.
Numerical Ability: You’ll need to be good with numbers to manage cash transactions and stock counts.

Key Competencies:

Minimizing risk by following processes.
Meeting deadlines and staying organized.
Planning and thinking analytically.
Building strong relationships with customers and teammates.
Paying close attention to detail.
Understanding and influencing others effectively.

Additional Information:

You’ll be required to follow retail administration policies, including those related to cash desk operations, stockroom management, and sales procedures.
