Scholarship FAQs

To help you better understand the application process, please take the time to read through them carefully.

Q: Will every learner who applies receive a scholarship?

A. No. SANRAL receives many scholarship applications from learners across South Africa and, unfortunately, we have only a limited number of scholarships to award each year. But don’t let that discourage you! If you are motivated to excel in your studies, you should still apply for this opportunity.

Q: How does SANRAL select the scholarship recipients?

A: The scholarship is awarded based on a combination of academic merit and financial need. The background of the learner is also taken into consideration. SANRAL reserves the right to decline applications from a designated group once the target for that group has been reached.

Q: How will I know if my scholarship application was successful?

A: SANRAL will contact successful candidates only – once the final selection process has been completed. If you have not received any communication within three months of the application closing date on 30 September 2024, it means that your application was unsuccessful. Unfortunately, we cannot provide individual feedback on unsuccessful applications.

Q: Does receiving a SANRAL scholarship guarantee employment with SANRAL?

A: No. While we’re happy to support you on your journey to success, receiving a scholarship is not a guarantee of future employment opportunities with SANRAL.

Remember! Even if you don’t receive a SANRAL scholarship this year, you can always re-apply next year.
