What You Will Be Responsible For

Below are some of the key tasks expected from the Shop Assistant:

Customer Service

  • Provide every customer with friendly, helpful and professional assistance
  • Make sure each visitor feels seen and valued
  • Respond to questions quickly and accurately
  • Help customers understand product options, prices and guarantees
  • Demonstrate products when needed
  • Always put the customer first

Sales and Store Support

  • Drive sales by suggesting additional products where helpful
  • Keep shelves neat, clean and fully stocked
  • Ensure all pricing and product displays are correct
  • Report items that sell fast and items that move slowly
  • Assist with stock counts and stock take activities
  • Help control stock loss
  • Support all store promotions and visual layouts
  • Protect the company’s assets and follow all safety rules

What You Need Before You Apply

This role is open to applicants who meet the following basic requirements:

  • A Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
  • At least six months of retail experience
  • Reliable transport, especially since the job requires shift work

Additional Expectations

Team members are expected to participate in any training required by the company, follow all company policies and procedures, and stay updated with new systems or technology introduced in the store. Confidentiality, professionalism, and a willingness to learn are key parts of the job.
