What Is the Transnet Graduate Internship Programme?

The TNPA Graduate Internship Programme helps young South Africans gain the real-world work experience they need to start their careers. You will work under the guidance of a qualified mentor, follow a structured learning plan, and take part in regular performance reviews to track your progress.

This internship is for 24 months, giving you enough time to build up your professional skills and prepare for a full-time job in your chosen field.

What Will You Do as a Transnet Intern?

As an intern, you won’t just be making copies or fetching coffee. You’ll be:

Following a clear, structured training programme
Taking part in performance reviews and skills assessments
Doing real tasks related to your field of study
Working closely with experienced professionals in your department
Learning how a large company like Transnet runs behind the scenes

Who Can Apply?

To be considered for this internship, you must:

Be a South African citizen
Be between the ages of 18–35
Have no previous work experience related to your qualification
Be from Saldanha Bay Municipality or surrounding areas (preferred)
Be a person with a disability (strongly encouraged to apply)

Required Qualifications

Depending on the department you apply for, you must have one of the following:

Supply Chain Management Department:
- Degree or National Diploma in Supply Chain Management
Port Management / Communication Department:
- National Diploma or Degree in:
  - Corporate Communication
  - Public Relations
  - Journalism

What Skills Should You Have?

Transnet is looking for interns who are eager to learn, willing to grow, and have the basic skills to succeed in a team. You should have:

Good communication skills (both written and verbal)
Basic computer knowledge
Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Strong attention to detail
Good problem-solving ability
Teamwork and collaboration skills
