Transnet Work Integrated Learnership Programme 2025 Now Open for Applications

Transnet is calling on all suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Work Integrated Non-Technical Learner (WIL) Programme for TVET college students across South Africa. About the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme

The Transnet WIL Non-Technical Learner Programme is an 18-month training opportunity that gives students practical experience in a real working environment. It is aimed at TVET college students who have completed their studies and need workplace exposure to complete their qualification or kick-start their careers.

During the programme, participants will receive mentorship, hands-on training, and exposure to various business functions. This is a chance to take the theories you learned in the classroom and apply them in real-life situations, making you job-ready by the end of the programme.

The goal of this programme is to boost your employability by helping you develop professional skills and gain a better understanding of the corporate world.


Key Responsibilities

As a participant in this learnership, you will be required to perform different tasks, including:

1. Task Execution

  • Assist with specific projects within your assigned department.
  • Handle basic operational tasks under supervision.
  • Support administrative duties like filing, reporting, and documentation.

2. Learning & Development

  • Attend workshops, training sessions, and mentorship programmes.
  • Shadow experienced team members to gain practical insights.
  • Work on problem-solving activities to sharpen your critical thinking skills.

3. Communication & Collaboration

  • Interact with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to understand daily operations.
  • Give regular updates on your tasks and progress.
  • Act as a point of contact for questions and requests within your department.

4. Compliance & Safety

  • Follow Transnet’s policies, safety rules, and ethical standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity at all times.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by following safety guidelines.

5. Research & Analysis

  • Conduct basic market research and collect data to help with decision-making.
  • Assist in preparing reports and presentations using Microsoft Office.
  • Support process improvement initiatives within the department.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this exciting opportunity, you must:

  • Have a Matric Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Hold an N6 qualification in Public Relations and Communications.
  • Be a South African citizen aged between 18 and 35 years.
  • Provide proof of the following certified documents:
    • Matric certificate
    • Academic record
    • South African ID copy
    • TVET college experiential learning letter
  • Not have a bursary obligation with another company.
  • Preference will be given to People with Disabilities.

Skills and Competencies Needed

The ideal candidate should have the following:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic computer skills, especially Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work well within a team.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Willingness to learn and grow.
  • Good interpersonal skills for building professional relationships.
