What This Job Is About

This is not a normal cleaner position. This is a management support role where you will lead teams and make sure cleaning operations run smoothly and professionally.

Main purpose of the role

To assist in managing cleaning operations across sites by:

  • supervising teams
  • enforcing attendance and performance
  • ensuring contract quality
  • meeting SLA standards
  • maintaining client satisfaction

This job is perfect for someone who is confident with people management and understands cleaning operations.


Duties and Responsibilities

Below are the key tasks you’ll handle in this role:


Managing Cleaning Teams

Leading staff on site

You will:

  • manage cleaning teams at a site
  • monitor performance and productivity
  • ensure attendance standards are met
  • make sure staff deliver quality work daily

This means you must be firm but fair, and able to lead without creating conflict.


Building Strong Client Relationships

Keeping clients happy

Client satisfaction is extremely important in contract cleaning. You will:

  • build strong relationships with clients
  • handle concerns professionally
  • ensure service delivery remains consistent

A big part of your success will depend on how well you communicate and solve issues before they become big problems.


Cleaning Stock and Materials Management

Managing supplies

You will also manage:

  • cleaning materials
  • stock levels
  • ordering and replenishment

This is important because cleaning teams cannot work without the correct chemicals, equipment, and materials.


Labour Planning and Scheduling

Using labour management tools

You will use a labour system (example: PRP) to:

  • plan and schedule labour
  • allocate staff correctly
  • meet operational needs
  • control staffing levels

This is where time management and planning really matter.


HR Support Duties

Handling staff issues professionally

You will support HR-related matters including:

  • discipline processes
  • grievances
  • performance management

You don’t need to be an HR expert, but you must understand how workplace procedures work, and follow correct steps.


Site Inspections and SLA Compliance

Quality control

You will:

  • conduct regular site inspections
  • ensure compliance with SLAs (Service Level Agreements)
  • ensure hygiene and cleaning standards are met

If standards fall, you must correct them quickly and report where needed.


Supporting Contract Retention

Keeping the contract strong

In contract cleaning, keeping clients satisfied helps Tsebo retain contracts. You will contribute by:

  • ensuring consistent service delivery
  • improving cleanliness quality
  • keeping communication clear with clients

Skills and Competencies Required

Tsebo is looking for someone with the following abilities:

Cleaning knowledge

  • Strong understanding of cleaning processes
  • Knowledge of hygiene standards

SLA and auditing skills

  • Ability to interpret SLAs
  • Ability to conduct site audits and inspections

HR understanding

  • Basic understanding of HR procedures
  • Basic knowledge of labour legislation

Computer/Reporting skills

  • Proficiency in MS Excel
  • Ability to work with operational reporting tools

Organisational ability

  • Strong time management
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Ability to handle pressure and multitask

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualification

Matric / Grade 12

Added Advantage Qualification

A tertiary qualification such as:

  • Degree
  • Certificate
  • Diploma

in fields like:

  • Retail
  • Operations / Retail Management
  • related field

Experience Requirement

  • Proven experience in cleaning operations
  • Proven experience supervising staff
  • Experience managing multiple sites is a strong advantage
