📍 Location: Auckland Park Kingsway Campus, but you may work across different campuses.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

As a Security Officer at UJ, your main duties will include:

✅ Patrolling & Security Checks

• Protect UJ’s property, staff, students, and visitors.
• Patrol campus areas to prevent theft, vandalism, and security risks.
• Identify and report security threats or suspicious activities.

✅ Access Control & Surveillance

• Monitor and operate security systems (CCTV, alarms, etc.).
• Enforce strict access control by checking IDs, permits, and work orders.
• Search bags and vehicles as per security protocols.

✅ Emergency Response

• Respond quickly to fire alarms, medical incidents, or security threats.
• Secure crime scenes until law enforcement arrives.
• Escort staff and students when needed, especially during late hours.

✅ Customer Service & Reporting

• Assist students, staff, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
• Complete reports on incidents and security breaches.
• Maintain lost & found records.

📌 Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must have:

✔️ Grade 12 / Matric / NQF4 qualification
✔️ Valid Grade C PSIRA registration (Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority)
✔️ Basic Computer Skills (Microsoft Office)
✔️ Valid Driver’s License
✔️ At least 2 years of security experience
✔️ Clear criminal record (Checked by SAPS)
✔️ Good physical and mental fitness (Medical tests required)

⏰ Working Conditions

This job requires flexibility, and you must be willing to:

🔹 Work day or night shifts (24/7/365 operations).
🔹 Travel between different UJ campuses when needed.
🔹 Wear a uniform and work in all weather conditions.
🔹 Carry a firearm (if operationally required).
