About the Job

As a Warehouse Helper III, you’ll work behind the scenes to support the smooth operation of the university’s stores and asset management. You’ll help with handling furniture, overseeing old and new assets, and ensuring the warehouse stays safe and clean.

Whether you’re dropping off furniture at different departments or assisting with asset sales, your work helps keep everything organised and on track.


What You’ll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities)

Your main duties in this role include:

  • Managing redundant (old or unused) assets
  • Keeping the store neat, clean, and safe
  • Making sure all internal movement of goods is done on time
  • Delivering furniture to different departments within the university
  • Responding to PeopleSoft system requests
  • Completing and submitting transfer documents
  • Ensuring that vehicles used for transport are clean and scheduled for inspections
  • Assisting with sales processes by attaching tender documentation to items
  • Helping with numbering and marking of items for sale or movement

This job is physical and hands-on, perfect for someone who enjoys structure and movement throughout the day.


Minimum Requirements to Apply

To be considered for this opportunity, you need:

  • A Grade 10 qualification
  • At least 6 months of relevant work experience, which includes:
    • Knowledge of store management
    • Basic understanding of asset control
    • Administrative experience related to goods movement or warehouse processes

Skills & Qualities You Should Have

The ideal candidate will bring the following strengths:

  • Knowledge of how stores and assets are managed
  • Good communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work well with teams and departments
  • Basic email and telephone etiquette
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time
  • High level of professional integrity and honesty
  • Organised and able to handle multiple tasks in a busy environment

It’s a Bonus If You Have…

  • A Grade 12 / Matric certificate
  • 6+ months of asset management experience in a university
  • A Code 10 Driver’s Licence and PDP (Professional Driving Permit)

These extras are not required but could give you an advantage during the hiring process.
