Position Overview

Transnet is looking for motivated Technical and Non-Technical trainees to join their Youth Development Program for 12 months. This program offers hands-on experience and exposure to various departments to help you gain the skills needed for future employment. As part of this role, you will be working under the mentorship of professionals, attending workshops, and participating in various projects. It’s an excellent opportunity to gain practical work experience in a real-world environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a Work Integrated Technical Learner, you will:

• Shadow experienced staff members and participate in a wide range of learning experiences.
• Attend meetings and workshops to expand your knowledge in areas such as procurement and technical operations.
• Communicate with customers to understand their needs and provide regular updates on the progress of their requests.
• Act as the central contact point for supplier and end-user queries, ensuring that all questions are answered quickly and effectively.
• Provide administrative support such as research and assisting with tasks as assigned by your mentor or specialist.
• Take work briefs and instructions from your mentor to complete specific projects or deliverables.
• Create reports using MS Office tools like Word or PowerPoint, presenting deliverables in a clear and professional manner.

This role is ideal for university students in Electronics, Industrial Engineering, or Physical Metallurgy, as you will be able to apply the skills learned during your studies in a practical environment.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

• University of Technology students (S4/S5), who have completed all theoretical subjects in Electronics, Industrial Engineering, or Physical Metallurgy.
• Must be a South African citizen.
• No bursary obligation.
• You will need to provide the following:
  • Proof of confirmation / Work Integrated Learning letter from your institution.
  • Proof of your qualification (Academic record, Certified Matric Certificate, ID Copy).
