What Does a Drill Rig Assistant Do?

As a Drill Rig Assistant, your main job is to support the Drill Rig Operator during mining operations. You’ll help with the setup, monitor the drill’s performance, and keep everything running safely and smoothly.

Here are some of the things you’ll do every day:

Help set up and move drill rigs around safely.
Check the drill rig’s performance and report any problems.
Clean and plug holes after drilling to make sure everything is safe.
Replace parts like drill bits and rods when needed.
Keep track of how many holes are drilled and report progress.
Walk around drilling areas before work starts to check for safety issues.
Work with the team to make sure operations follow health and safety rules.

Who Can Apply?

Matric / Grade 12 (not required, but it’s a big plus).
DM30 certificate (required).
0 to 1 year experience in mining, drilling, or a similar job.
Must be medically fit and ready for physical work.
