📌 What’s the Role About?

As an Operations Assistant with AECI Mining, you’ll be at the heart of the action, helping operate a mobile manufacturing unit (MMU), also known as a BLEND truck. This job is all about teamwork, safety, and meeting customer needs with precision. You’ll play a big part in supporting the MMU Controller to ensure smooth operations while keeping everything up to the top standards AECI is known for.

Key Responsibilities

Here’s a look at what your daily tasks would involve:

1. Support the MMU Controller
   • Help manage and run all aspects of the MMU in line with AECI’s high standards.
   • Conduct regular inspections to spot any issues or non-compliance with SABS and global standards. When necessary, you’ll work on solutions for continuous improvement.
2. Blasting Support
   • You’ll help with all blasting-related activities, such as measuring, preparing, and safely securing blast sites.
   • Duties include measuring blast holes, sealing charged holes, guarding, and cleaning around blast sites.
3. Keep the Site Spotless
   • A clean site is a safe site! You’ll be responsible for housekeeping, including:
     • Keeping the wash bay and truck parking areas clean.
     • Ensuring the MMU trucks are spotless and in top condition.
4. Loading and Unloading
   • You’ll handle loading and unloading tasks for the trucks, dealing with explosives and accessories while following strict safety protocols.
5. Adhere to Legal Standards
   • Ensuring all legal and safety requirements are met while at the depot and on-site is crucial for this role.
6. Assist with Charging and Stemming Duties
   • As needed, you’ll support the team in the charging up process and stemming tasks to secure loaded holes before blasting.

Who’s the Perfect Fit?

AECI is looking for individuals with the following qualifications:

• Education: Must have completed Grade 12.
• Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required.
• Safety-First Mindset: Knowledge of safe working practices is essential, as safety is a top priority in mining operations.
• Experience: Familiarity with hazardous product handling and product knowledge are bonuses.
• Health Clearance: Ability to obtain a red ticket health clearance is mandatory.

If you have experience in product handling, especially with hazardous materials, or if you know a thing or two about explosives, this could be an advantage!
