What You’ll Be Doing Every Day

In this job, you’ll be responsible for keeping Air Products’ cylinder fleet in top condition. The work isn’t behind a desk — it’s on the ground, checking vehicles, managing documents, and making sure everything runs safely and smoothly.

Here are the main things you’ll handle:

• Fleet Inspections: You’ll regularly check the trucks and vehicles to make sure they’re safe and roadworthy.
• Legal Compliance: You’ll help the company meet all legal transport rules, especially those dealing with dangerous goods.
• Maintenance Tasks: You’ll help manage licensing, Certificates of Fitness (COF), and fire permits, so all vehicles are ready to go.
• Placard Signs: You’ll ensure vehicles have the correct hazard signs displayed for dangerous goods transportation.
• Workshop Cleanliness: You’ll keep the area neat, safe, and well-organized.
• Service Records: You’ll record all vehicle services and inspections so there’s always a paper trail.
• Safety First: You’ll follow company safety rules and make sure all work is done with high-quality standards.
• Customer Service: You’ll work with other departments and sometimes interact with clients, so good communication and teamwork are key.

What You’ll Need to Qualify

To apply for this job, you must meet these requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate – no university degree needed!
• A valid Code EC driver’s license with PrDP (Professional Driving Permit – dangerous goods).
• A Dangerous Goods Certificate.
• 3 to 5 years of experience driving and maintaining heavy-duty vehicles, especially ones used to transport dangerous goods.
• Must be mechanically minded – you should understand how vehicles work.
• Computer literate – you should know how to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
• Good communication skills – written and spoken English.
